Blood Pressure Day at TESCO, Saturday 17th November 2007.

This would be the second BP Session of the year. Under the supervision of Sister Sue Winstanley, Matron of the Newton Community Hospital and with the professional assistance Gareth Owen, the Club organised and ran a successful Blood Pressure testing session to promote the importance of regular testing in the prevention of Stroke and related health problems. In the four hours we were in TESCO's Foyer over one hundred and forty checks were carried out with about a dozen people being referred to their own practice for further health checks. During the day District Chairman Keith Unsworth visited us and had his Blood Pressure checked. It seems that the pressure of being District Chairman is not affecting him too much. Sue did the checking while a laughing Ken Smith looked on

The Blood Pressure Day at TESCO, Saturday 22nd April, 2006

Once more we are helping the local "Stroke Association" with the second of two Stroke Awareness session this Rotary year. It was held in the foyer of TESCO Earlestown from 11am to 3.30pm on Saturday 22nd April, 2006. The tests were under the supervision of Sue Winstanley, Matron of the Newton Comunity Hospital with the assistance of Gareth Owen from a medical practice in Sutton, St Helens. Quite a successful day with over 150 clients being checked and where needed given advice. Results from 14 BP checks gave concern and were reported to the appropriate practice. There would have been a photograph of the event but the digital camera had a case of terminal damage. Better luck next time.
